Discover the fascinating journey of a monument, from raw granite in the earth to a beautifully crafted tribute. Explore each step in the process and the artistry behind every memorial.
1
Selecting & Quarrying the Stone
The first step is to choose the stone type and color. Granite blocks are cut from bedrock using drilling or water jets, ensuring the highest quality material for each monument.
2
Extraction & Transport
Workers drill holes in the quarry bed, insert explosives, and blast the granite block free. A derrick lifts the block onto a truck for transport to the manufacturer.
3
Cutting & Shaping
Granite slabs are cut into smaller pieces using a diamond saw, then polished to a glossy finish with abrasive pads. The edges are hand-chiseled for a unique shape and character.
4
Design & Personalization
At Rocky Mountain Monument, you'll work with experienced designers to create a custom headstone in a private setting. We use advanced software to visualize the design, ensuring it's the perfect memorial for your loved one.
5
Production & Finishing
A stencil is applied to the headstone, then sandblasted to create the design. The stone is cleaned, polished, and inspected to ensure it meets our high standards.
